Every couple months the folks over at Greyscale Gorilla do a little thing called The 5-Second Project.
The idea is simple: make a 5 second animation, explore some new techniques, interpret the theme literally, figuratively, loosely.
The current 5-Second Project’s theme is “Buttons” and here’s what I made.
The music was created in ButtonBass, which seemed theme-appropriate. Except for the sound effects, which are me dropping actual buttons on a plate.

Recently developed extruded shiny chrome letters for a client. Our budget wasn’t enough for full on ray-traced 3D reflections, so this is what we came up with.
This test was made in Element 3D, faking some chrome distortions by using a displacement map on a reflection pass. Came out pretty nice I think.
I’ve been wanting to do a sketch-style 3D project for a while and was thrilled to have the opportunity on a recent assignment.
The client wanted a sketched look, with scenes drawing on.
This is a motion test we created. We can’t post the project just yet, but hopefully we’ll have some more clips to share soon.
